#VitalFactz: Happy Birthday - MC Ren

June 16, 2018

Happy Birthday @realmcren MC Ren. Born Lorenzo Jerald Patterson, June 16, 1969. Patterson started out as an original member of the legendary West Coast group N.W.A.. Patterson was a major lyrical contributor to the group, despite repeated false that claims that Ice Cube wrote all of the lyrics when he was with N.W.A. Ren's contributions helped propel their debut studio LP Straight Outta Compton to Triple Platinum Status, and (along with The D.O.C.) their Niggaz4Life album to Double Platinum status. When the group disbanded late in '91, Ren soldiered on as a solo artist. is first release was 1992's EP Kizz My Black Azz. This release was certified Platinum. In 1993 he released his official full length studio debut album Shock Of The Hour. This album was certified Gold & peaked at #1 on Billboard's R&B Albums Chart. Ren has 4 solo albums to his credit. In 2016, Ren & all of the remaining original members of N.W.A. were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
